2degrees, the collaboration problem-solving service for sustainable business, and Acclimatise have formed a partnership, enabling us to offer their members focused adaptation webinars, forum discussions, and online resources.
Adaptation is gaining rapid momentum and most organisations are starting to see there are two clear climate challenges. We have to reduce our emissions (mitigate) and adapt to inevitable climate change. More and more members are now asking 2degrees for their support and advice on these issues.
During February (2010) 2degrees is running a dedicated adaptation month. We will be helping them run a series of adaptation webinars and forum sessions focusing on climate-resilient cities, essential assets, utilities, real estate, sustainable investment management and companies with complex supply chains. These sessions will provide the attendees with firsthand experience addressing the key challenges and opportunities they will face within their business.
Throughout 2010 we will be working closely together to help the members further their understanding of the physical risks of inevitable climate change, how these risks will impact on their business models & operations and challenge their competitive advantage. We will explore and create discussions, webinars and knowledge sharing opportunities around the key business implications of a changing climate, highlighting how various organisations are currently assessing and managing these risks and opportunities (current best practice), the importance of a balanced climate strategy (mitigation versus adaptation), policies, regulation and wider stakeholder positions. This will equip the members and their organisations with a solid foundation with which to start thinking about their key risk exposures and management options, commercial opportunities and current strategies and plans to build business resilience.
