Scope:

Acclimatise was retained as a technical advisor by the Environment Agency to assist with the development of a climate change strategy and action plan for Birmingham. The Environment Agency has agreed to undertake this work for the Birmingham Strategic Partnership.

The strategy looks at both mitigation and adaptation and identifies actions and targets for key organisations.

A wider external perspective of the impacts of climate change on the financial and business sectors has been provided.

  • Transport
  • Buildings
  • Waste
  • Energy use
  • Water.

Acclimatise expertise:

  • Development of a climate change strategy and action plan for a major urban area providing a framework for spatial planning
  • Creating an ‘agency for change’ attitude in Birmingham
  • Setting SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely) targets
  • Engagement with a diverse group of professions and organisations.
